Borderline opens July 17 in select theaters and on VOD. Samara Weaving plays Sofia, a pop star who gets taken hostage in her own home by Paul, an obsessive fan who just escaped from a mental hospital and decided they are getting married.
Jimmy Warden wrote The Babysitter. He directs here. The territory is the same: horror that leans into its own ridiculousness. Ray Nicholson plays Paul. Eric Dane and Jimmie Fails round out the cast.
Critics are mixed, but the audience this was made for probably won't care. It's Samara Weaving playing a pop star being hunted in her own home. That is the pitch.
Before this: Ready or Not (2019).
