Two cyclists ride along a dusty country road through the flat green fields of northern Italy under a pale blue summer sky

Call Me by Your Name is playing in specialty theaters now. Luca Guadagnino directed it in 2017. It has 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Elio is seventeen and spending the summer in northern Italy in 1983. Oliver arrives to stay with his family for the season. Timothée Chalamet plays Elio. The rest of the summer belongs to them.

Guadagnino is having the best run of any director working today. Challengers, Queer, Bones and All. This is the film that started that conversation.

Before you go, watch Challengers. Same director, same heat, same restless wanting.

If you only ever saw this at home, you have not seen this film. The Italian summer does not translate to a laptop. This is what theaters are for.
