CAMP has a 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Avalon Fast wrote and directed it. It is still in limited theaters through Dark Sky Films.
Emily is a camp counselor processing grief. The film is about what women do when they are left to deal with something alone in the woods. It is horror and fantasy and drama and it does not apologize for being any of those things at once. Fast won Best Feature at Fantastic Fest. Critics are calling it their favorite film of the year.
This is a debut that arrived already sure of itself.
Before this: The Witch for the same isolation and dread, or Picnic at Hanging Rock for girls disappearing into landscape.
