A girl in white sits at a golf driving range while wealthy golfers swing their clubs behind her, a woman in blue standing nearby, from Filipiñana

Filipiñana opens at IFC Center this Thursday, July 16, as part of NYAFF.

A teenage girl hired as a tee girl at a private golf club outside Manila watches the people who belong there and the people who don't. Rafael Manuel set it over a single day and the film gets darker quietly. He won the Special Jury Award at Sundance this year. His previous short won a Silver Bear at Berlin.

If the class anxiety of Parasite is what you're after but quieter and stranger, this is for you.

Before this: Parasite.
