Na Hong-jin hasn't made a film since The Wailing. That was 2016. His follow-up, Hope, premieres in North America this Sunday at the New York Asian Film Festival.

The film opened at Cannes in May in main competition. A village police chief and his rookie partner investigate a creature hunting their community after wildfires cut off communications. Hwang Jung-min and Zo In-sung are joined by Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, and Taylor Russell.

Na Hong-jin will be at SVA Theatre on July 20 for an intro and Q&A. Tickets are available now through the NYAFF website. The wide US release comes in September via Neon.

If you haven't seen The Wailing, now is the time.
