Leviticus Is in Theaters: Australian Queer Horror

Two teenage boys in jackets walking through a wide, flat Australian grassfield under an overcast grey sky, viewed from behind with a treeline and farmhouse in the distance

Leviticus is in US theaters now, and it has 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It is an Australian queer horror about two teenage boys being hunted by a supernatural entity a religious community summoned to end their attraction to each other.

The concept is what makes it different: the entity doesn't get exorcised out. The healer plants it in. And it takes the form of the person each boy desires most, which is each other.

This is for anyone who loved It Follows or Talk to Me. Australian horror is doing something no one else is right now, and Leviticus is the best version of it.

Before you go: Talk to Me. A24, Australia, 2022. Same dread, same atmosphere. Perfect double feature.
