George Lucas is in Minions & Monsters. He plays a fictionalized version of himself.
Producer Chris Meledandri reached out to Lucas personally after learning he was an admitted fan of the Despicable Me franchise. Lucas said yes. The creator of Star Wars appears in a Minions movie as himself.
It fits the film. The Minions accidentally conjure a Cthulhu-inspired monster named Goomi, voiced by Trey Parker, the South Park creator. They end up in Hollywood trying to make a film. George Lucas shows up. Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges are also in it.
The film was moved up a full year from its original 2027 slot when Shrek 5 was postponed.
People on Backlot are watching it this month. The kind of movie that's more fun knowing what you're walking into.
