My Neighbor Totoro returns to US theaters July 11 for five nights as part of Ghibli Fest 2026, presented by GKIDS and Fathom Entertainment. Screenings include a bonus featurette on how the film was made.
This is the 1988 Hayao Miyazaki film that convinced a generation that animation could be slow, tender, and completely devastating. Two sisters move to the countryside and befriend a forest spirit who does very little and means everything. At 86 minutes, it is the most efficient movie you will ever see.
Bring someone who has never seen it on a big screen. Screenings are available in both Japanese subtitled and English dubbed. Both work.
Watch Before You Go: Spirited Away.
Group Chat Take: Sub or dub is the argument. You settle it by going twice.
