A tense scene from Obsession (2026), Curry Barker's horror thriller about a wish that goes wrong

Curry Barker directed and edited Obsession himself. When he needed a voice for the One Wish Willow customer service line, he recorded himself on his phone from his bedroom and dropped it into the cut.

The whole film cost less than $1 million to make.

The wish idea came to him in July 2023 while watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. A Simpsons rerun came on. The episode was Treehouse of Horror II, the one with Homer and the monkey paw. He worked the concept into the script.

People on Backlot have been watching it this month. It premiered at TIFF and sold for the highest price for a genre film in Midnight Madness history. Today it lands on Peacock.
