The Wayans didn't leave Scary Movie. The Weinsteins took it.
After Scary Movie 2, the brothers asked for more money. The Weinsteins said no, then made Scary Movie 3 without them. Marlon found out from a New Year's Eve announcement. The franchise was gone.
It stayed gone for 25 years. Then a new Miramax CEO called Marlon directly. Marlon said yes, but only with his brothers.
The timing meant something. Before their father died in 2023, he told Marlon he thought the brothers should work together again.
The original cast came back. Anna Faris. Regina Hall. Shawn Wayans. They were writing new parody scenes while physically on the set of another film. They added Sinners and Michael parodies in April 2026.
