Splash City opens July 20 in select theaters through Lionsgate. Two brothers, Juju and Slim, grow up in San Francisco's Fillmore district. Slim finds a path through basketball. Juju falls into smash-and-grab robberies. This is where they split.
The Fillmore is San Francisco's historically Black neighborhood, where car break-ins have become a defining part of life on the streets. The film was co-directed by Berner, a Bay Area rapper making his feature debut, alongside Alex Ferrufino. It's a specific film about a specific place.
