Take Care of My Cat opens at Metrograph in New York on July 17 in a 4K restoration. Jeong Jae-eun's 2001 Korean film flopped on release with 35,000 admissions. The Guardian put it at number 19 in their list of modern Korean cinema classics in 2020.
Bae Doona plays Tae-hee, the one trying to hold her group of five friends together after graduation. This is the film that made her. Before Sense8, before Cloud Atlas, before The Host. Five women pull apart under economic pressure in Incheon. A cat passes between them. The film found its audience over 25 years.
