Dolly de Leon had nearly quit. She was 53, living in a friend's home with her children, and a friend had to talk her into even submitting for Triangle of Sadness. She told herself it was her last audition. If she didn't get it, she was done with acting.
She got it.
The role was Abigail, the toilet manager who ends up running the show when the hierarchy flips. De Leon auditioned in 2018. Filming didn't start until 2020. She waited two years.
Triangle of Sadness won the Palme d'Or at Cannes. De Leon got a Golden Globe nomination. She became an international name at 53, for a role she almost didn't go after.
Knowing that going in changes the whole third act.
People on Backlot are watching this one now.
